Black Wall Street: Honoring Our Legacy, Building Our Future

Black Wall Street, most famously represented by the Greenwood District in Tulsa, Oklahoma, was a thriving community of Black-owned businesses, financial institutions, and professionals in the early 1900s. Our ancestors built an economic powerhouse despite systemic racism, segregation, and limited resources. Their success was no accident—it was the result of intentional, strategic actions that we can and must replicate today.

How Our Ancestors Built Black Wall Street:

Entrepreneurship & Ownership – They established businesses that met the community’s needs, from banks to grocery stores, hospitals, and schools.

Group Economics – Money circulated within the community multiple times before leaving, strengthening Black businesses and creating wealth.

Education & Skill Building – They invested in knowledge, whether through formal education or skill-based trades, ensuring economic independence.

Cooperative Economics – They worked together, supporting each other’s businesses and pooling resources to buy land and fund ventures.

Legacy Building – Wealth was passed down through investments, land ownership, and businesses, ensuring financial stability for future generations.

What We Must Do to Rebuild Black Wall Street Today:

Prioritize Financial Literacy – We must equip ourselves and our children with financial education to make informed wealth-building decisions.

Support Black-Owned Businesses – Intentionally spend within our community to circulate wealth and foster economic growth.

Invest in Ownership – Buy land, real estate, and businesses to create generational wealth and economic independence.

Collaborate, Not Compete – Form partnerships, invest in each other’s success, and build networks that uplift our community.

Teach the Next Generation – Pass down knowledge, assets, and financial strategies to ensure our progress continues.

The blueprint for success has already been laid out for us. It’s time to build a new Black Wall Street—stronger, smarter, and more resilient than ever before.

Let’s break barriers, build legacies, and create the financial freedom our ancestors dreamed of.

I'm ready to transform my finances!
